Deep learning based camera/radar sensor fusion technology for road side unit (RSU) applications
Summary | Based on deep learning camera/radar object detection and tracking technology, the proposed road side unit (RSU) system has achieved over 95% vehicle detection accuracy within 100m detection range in the processing performance of 10fps under nVidia Jetson Xavier platform. Compared to the 32-beam lidar based RSU, the proposed RSU achieves 97% reduction of sensor cost that exhibits high competitiveness in deployment cost. The proposed RSU system has been verified in fields and we are now cooperating with an industry partner to deploy the RSU system in both Tainan and Tao-Yuan cities. The world first multi-scale deep learning object detection technology together with radar point cloud based dynamic ROI selection and an automatic deep learning model pruning tool (ezModel) enables the unique competitiveness of the proposed embedded RSU system, which achieves 95% detection accuracy within 100m detection range at 10fps processing performance. The cost of the RSU system is about $NTD 50,000, which is much more competitive than the 32-beam lidar RSU that cost about $NTD 500,000. The proposed technology attracted Wistron to launch a four-year investment with annual amount of 10M NTD to setup Wistron-NCTU embedded artificial intelligence research center in NCTU. At the same time, the proposed technology developed in our MOST project also results 12 industrial projects in a total amount of 27.8M NTD investment from local industry. A new start-up is under cultivation to attract the Angel round investment up to 100M-180M NTD and launched by the end of 2021. |

Mitochondrial Analytic Platform and Nucleotide Applications
Summary Description: 1. Stress alters mitochondrial import of proteins. To monitor changes in mitochondrial import at single-mitochondrial resolution, split GFP epitopes are fused to the target proteins and mitochondrial membranes or expressed in the mitochondrial matrix. 2. General genotoxic agents damage both nuclear and mitochondrial DNA. By expressing mitochondrial DNA binding protein TFAM fused with KillerRed, specific mitochondrial DNA damages by light exposure are induced for investigating mitochondrial DNA damage signal. 3. Quantification of four dNTP pools is important for understanding drug action. The popularity of the analysis has been limited by the requirement of radio-isotope or sophisticated instrumentation. The method of click reaction we designed for measuring dNTPs overcomes the drawbacks of conventional methods. 4. The outbreak of drug-resistant Candida infection in hospital is of concern. We found the distinct biochemical property of Candida TMPK in high affinity to uridylate as the substrate, leading to the discovery of 5FUd (<5 nM) in suppressing Candida growth.

High entropy alloy as anode material of lithium-ion battery
In the prior art of high-efficiency anode materials for lithium-ion batteries, we designed a high-entropy composition and manufactured it through a simple and mass production method. This technology inherits the cocktail effect of high-entropy alloys by combining highly active elements and metal elements. This material can be manufactured by a simple mass production method. It shows high energy density, high Coulomb efficiency and high cycle stability, and becomes a promising anode material for lithium-ion batteries.

High Entropy Alloy Nitride Hard Coatings Prepared by Cathodic Arc Deposition and Their Applications of Micro End Mills
The technology uses cathodic arc deposition combined with electromagnet field control and optical emission spectroscopy (OES) for the deposition of new functional high entropy alloy (HEA) nitride coatings. The HEA nitride coatings possessed such high hardness and excellent hydrophobicity with low surface energy which are beneficial for high speed dry cutting. Finally, the coatings were deposited on the micro end mills for cutting test of printed circuit board. The HEA ACZN coated tools can possess high wear resistance and outperform the uncoated tools at least 4 times of tool lives.
