5G C-V2I Enabled Intelligent Real-time Trajectory PredictionWarning System
This study proposes a 5G C-V2I (Cellular Vehicle-to-Infrastructure) enabled intelligent trajectory predictionwarning system, which can be implemented in a framework including RSUs (Road Side Units) with radar detection ability5G edge computing servers. This study exploits artificial intelligence to predict instant trajectories of vehicles at crossroads. The resulting augmented-awareness navigation information is then broadcasted to road users through 5G C-V2I with low latency. In practical applications, road users can obtain real-time dynamics of surrounding vehicles so that their level of safety can be effectively enhanced.

Indoor Radar Sensing System
The proposed indoor radar sensing system includes two enabling technology, activity recognition and respiration rate estimation. In the former, the proposed framework consists of four major components: denosing, enhanced voxelization, data augmentation, and dual-view machine-learning to lead to accurate and efficient human-activity recognition. In the latter, the proposed system leverages the variation of the phase information of a specific frequency bin of the range profiles, and proposes a dynamic adaptive respiration waveform filtering algorithm to improve accuracy.

High entropy alloy as anode material of lithium-ion battery
In the prior art of high-efficiency anode materials for lithium-ion batteries, we designed a high-entropy composition and manufactured it through a simple and mass production method. This technology inherits the cocktail effect of high-entropy alloys by combining highly active elements and metal elements. This material can be manufactured by a simple mass production method. It shows high energy density, high Coulomb efficiency and high cycle stability, and becomes a promising anode material for lithium-ion batteries.

Mitochondrial Analytic Platform and Nucleotide Applications
Summary Description: 1. Stress alters mitochondrial import of proteins. To monitor changes in mitochondrial import at single-mitochondrial resolution, split GFP epitopes are fused to the target proteins and mitochondrial membranes or expressed in the mitochondrial matrix. 2. General genotoxic agents damage both nuclear and mitochondrial DNA. By expressing mitochondrial DNA binding protein TFAM fused with KillerRed, specific mitochondrial DNA damages by light exposure are induced for investigating mitochondrial DNA damage signal. 3. Quantification of four dNTP pools is important for understanding drug action. The popularity of the analysis has been limited by the requirement of radio-isotope or sophisticated instrumentation. The method of click reaction we designed for measuring dNTPs overcomes the drawbacks of conventional methods. 4. The outbreak of drug-resistant Candida infection in hospital is of concern. We found the distinct biochemical property of Candida TMPK in high affinity to uridylate as the substrate, leading to the discovery of 5FUd (<5 nM) in suppressing Candida growth.

Ultrahigh Energy Density Lithium-ion Batteries based on Sustainable Electrodes
A small organic molecule with multiple redox-active sites shows promise in the development of next-generation electric energy storage systems, especially for electric cars, green energy, and large-scale energy storage, when used as an active materials in a cathode in lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). Herein, an organic LIB with cathode material based on hexaazatriphenylene embedded quinone exhibits high capacity, high rate capability, and high cycling stability, which are far superior to that of commercial LIBs.

Low temperature instant copper bondinghigh toughness/low resistance RDL lines using 111 nanotwinned copper linesfoils
Electroplated nanotwinned Cu possesses excellent electrical & mechanical properties. It can be applied in three major joints:1. Low thermal budget/ low resistance Cu bonding for high performance computing chip.We are able to achieve low temperature bondinginstant bonding. Low temperature bonding is performed at 150°C for 1 h to achieve low contact resistance copper bonding. Instant bonding is performed at 300°C for 5 seconds under a pressure of 90MPa achieve low contact resistance.2. High strength/ High ductility copper lines in 3D-IC packaging We are able to fabricate high strength foils with tensile strength of 800MPa. Application of Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome Virus Recombinant Structural Antigen
Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome Virus (PRRSV) recombinant antigen A1 inhibits the expression of CD163 on the cell surface by inducing the polarization of M1 macrophage subset, which can further effectively reduce virus invasion and viral infection. A1 can regulate the endogenous genes of alveolar macrophages to activate Th1-type immune response and enhance cellular immunity. Therefore, this technical invention will be beneficial to screen the new generation of PRRSV candidate structural vaccines.

P-SERS: RapidSensitive On-site Detection Platform
Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) is a useful analytical technique for detecting extremely small amounts of molecules. Herein, we designed a paper-based quasi-three-dimensional SERS substrate (P-SERS) that can provide potential to improve Raman analyses for food safety, pesticide poisoning, precision medicine, drug abuseDNA/RNA testing. The sensitive, low-cost, flexibledisposable SERS substrate could be easily fabricated by physical deposition of gold nanoparticles array onto a filter paper. In this case, we are able to create non-continuous Au islands on the fiber surfaces, where the gaps between AuNPs can dramatically generate the high electric field to enhance Raman signal of target molecules.

Artificial Intelligence Automatic Sputum Microscopy System AIASMS: AIASMS can automatically shoot images from sputum smear samples and identify Mycobacterium tuberculosis(MTB). AIASMS can find the most suitable depth for shooting images and then automatically shoot images under the microscope through auto-focusing. These images will be stored in the cloud database. Meanwhile, AIASMS detect whether the sputum smear contains MTB. AIASMS can accurately label the location of the TB. The sensitivity and specificity can reach 90% and 99% respectively. We also cooperate with three hospitals in the northern, central, and southern regions of Taiwan to conduct blind testing, and the sensitivity can be more than 90%. AIASMS can also distinguish between MTB and Non-tuberculous mycobacteria (NTM). Finally, n the expansion of technology, we have extended the identification of the acid-resistant staining to the identification of gram staining, so that our system can widely identify a variety of bacteria.

Artificial Intelligence-assisted Detection Tool for Pancreatic Cancer - PANCREASaver
PANCREASaver contains a “Pancreas Cancer (PC) automatic segmentation model” (image segmentation) and a “Pancreas Cancer (PC) analysis AI model” (image classification) that can read the DICOM format of postcontrast CT images directly for the automatic analysis process. After conducting prep-processing with image processing algorithms, C2FNAS is employed to illustrate the tumor position prior to the diagnosis conducted by CNN. The results can be provided to the physician for diagnostic reference so as to reduce early omissions and increase the detection rate of pancreatic cancer.

Development of AI Platform for Smart Drone - Intelligent Flight: Due to its high mobility and the ability to fly in the sky, the drone has inspired more and more innovative applications/services in recent years. The goal of this project is to resolve the problem of blindly flying an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV, which a drone in our case) when it is out of human sight or the range of wireless communication, and three major research and development directions will be considered in this project. Three artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, namely, smart sensing, smart control, and smart simulation, are applied in this project. Smart sensing - a flight system is developed, which can avoid the obstacles, complete a flight mission, and land safely. Smart control - an intelligence flight control system and a light-weighted somatosensory vest are developed. Smart simulation - a cost-effective training system and a 3D model simplification method are designed.

Reliability of Cu-to-Cu direct bonging: In order to realize the reliability of Cu-to-Cu direct bonding interconnects, we adopted nanotwinned Cu (nt-Cu) electroplating process to fabricate nt-Cu microbump for Cu-to-Cu direct bonding. Figure (a) is the photo of chip after bonding. Underfill (UF) dispensing was used to protect Cu microbumps. The cross-section SEM image of Cu microbump is shown in figure (b). Some chips underwent the reliability tests, including temperature cycling test (TCT) and electromigration (EM) test. To further study the failure mechanism, finite element analysis (FEA) was done to know the stress and current distribution during reliability test. This research could provide fundamental understanding for Cu-Cu joints with organic dielectric hybrid bonding.

To allow machines to learn human languages with only observations like human babies, a research team at Taiwan has partnered with the speech research groups in Meta, CMU, MIT, and JHU to develop a brand new self-supervised speech processing evaluation framework, Speech Processing Universal PERformance Benchmark (SUPERB).
